In the summer of 2007, six Virginia Tech students participated in an international volunteer program which they designed and carried through.

The program:
Located in: Lome, Togo
Duration: June 4th - July 30th, 2007.
Objectives: Build a computer training center, learn processes associated
with micro-finance institutions through the NGO, HELP Africa.
Accomplishments:
- Participated in micro-finance, NGO organizational structure, and French classes.
- Established a small computer training center for learning basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
- Gather surveying information for building a center for retirees.
- Participated in sensitizing events to recruit borrowers of micro-loans.
- Established a system of classification for a HELP Africa "library" of 200 books.
